Luck
8’x10’ (watercolour paper, watercolour) January 2022
Many people attribute success to pure luck, disregarding the efforts put in by the individual.
I, however, believe that luck comes with hard work.
In this artwork, I have created a space where viewers can search for four-leaf clovers within a clover field. Research shows that every 5,000 to 10,000 clover plants will mutate into a lucky four-leaf clover. This means that one has to plant 5,000 to 10,000 clovers to get a four-leaf clover. By working hard in life, one can increase the likelihood of getting what everyone desires: luck.
This installation artwork was my first attempt at exploring the idea of luck. I started by developing the concept, considering how to express it, creating a draft, collecting “luck” information, learning installation art techniques, and using different materials to create clovers of various styles. After creating a large quantity of clover, I installed them, took photos, and recorded videos.
Through the creation of this artwork, I gained a deeper understanding of the difference between product design and fine art.
